Laporte National Honor Society

Character – Leadership – Scholarship – Service

"The National Honor Society (NHS) is a nationwide organization that the world’s highest achieving students have been proudly adding to their résumés since 1921", specifically since 2022 here at Laporte.

Laporte High Schools scholarship requirement for NHS is an unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and our students are expected to have a desire for serving their local community.

Throughout the year, our NHS students help at events like Friday Night Live, local 4th of July activities, Walker's Block Party and local food shelf help. They also put on events like a gathering goods for local shelter "Drive for the Door", Roshambo (rock paper scissors tournament which gave foods to the food shelf), and a class change war, where the money raised went for flowers for local veteran graves.

Each year we celebrate new NHS inductees at a formal Induction Ceremony. It is a sacred time to celebrate their choices and sacrifices. Parents, current NHS members, faculty, and staff are all welcome.

NHS 2024 Induction Ceremony

Congratulations to the 2024 NHS inductees!

Change War

NHS raises money for Veteran graves for Memorial Day.

NHS put on a class change war.  The class that collected the most change wins.  Classes can sabotage other classes by putting dollar bills in their bucket which would minus from their change amount.  Everyone that donated in the winning class got to pie a teacher of their choice.  At the end of the fundraiser $440.05 was raised and the Junior class got to pie the teachers.
